United Kingdom Spirits And Liqueurs Export Price in November 2022
In November 2022, the spirits and liqueurs price stood at $7.2 per litre (FOB, United Kingdom), increasing by 5.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2021 when the average export price increased by 6.3% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $7.3 per litre in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to November 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2022, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($15.7 per litre), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($3.3 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2021 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
United Kingdom Spirits And Liqueurs Exports
In November 2022, approximately 117M litres of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages were exported from the UK; which is down by -6% on October 2022 figures. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 36% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 129M litres in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to November 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, spirits and liqueurs exports fell modestly to $849M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% from November 2021 to November 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 with an increase of 25% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 892M litres in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to November 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
United Kingdom Spirits And Liqueurs Exports by Country
France (12M litres), the United States (12M litres) and India (8.2M litres) were the main destinations of spirits and liqueurs exports from the UK, together accounting for 27% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands, Latvia, Japan, China and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 36%.
From November 2021 to November 2022, the biggest increases were in the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +4.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($153M) remains the key foreign market for spirits and liqueurs exports from the UK, comprising 18% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($68M), with an 8.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 5.2% share.
From November 2021 to November 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: France (+2.1% per month) and Germany (+3.0% per month).
