U.S. Firm Lone Star Plans Partial IPO for Novo Banco

U.S. private equity firm Lone Star is contemplating the sale of a 25-30% stake in Novo Banco through an initial public offering, according to the Portuguese Finance Minister Joaquim Miranda Sarmento [source]. This development marks a strategic shift from Lone Star's earlier consideration of a full sale of Novo Banco, with the bank's total valuation estimated at approximately 5 billion euros ($5.2 billion).

Novo Banco, established in 2014 following the bailout of Banco Espirito Santo, ranks as Portugal's fourth largest bank.
