U.S. Propellant Powders Imports
In 2023, approx. 4.4K tons of propellant powders were imported into the United States; growing by 13% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated modest growth from 2013 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by -9.8% against 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 109%. Imports by Country
In 2023, Canada (2.9K tons) constituted the largest propellant powders supplier to the United States, with a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, propellant powders imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Australia (541 tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Thailand (232 tons), with a 5.2% share.
From 2013 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada stood at +1.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (+3.1% per year) and Thailand (+357.1% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($100M) constituted the largest supplier of propellant powders to the United States, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($12M), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 5.8% share.

Import Prices by Country

Overall, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2013 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
