U.S. Stock Futures Rise Ahead of Fed Decision, Bitcoin Volatility Persists

U.S. stock futures are riding high ahead of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision scheduled for this week. According to Yahoo Finance, Nasdaq futures are showing a 0.4% uptick, while S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are both up by 0.2%. This comes as investors anticipate a possible rate cut, in a bid to stimulate the economy. Meanwhile, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note has fallen below 4.4%, marking a dip as crude oil futures edge down by nearly 1%, while gold futures nudge upwards slightly.

In the world of cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTCUSD) has dipped slightly, trading below $104,000 after peaking at over $160,000 during the weekend. Despite this pullback, Bitcoin's value had previously skyrocketed, fueled by hopes of favorable regulation under the incoming administration. Companies tied to the cryptocurrency market like Coinbase (COIN), Riot Platforms (RIOT), and MARA Holdings (MARA) have seen gains in early trading sessions.

Meanwhile, specific stock movements are catching investors' attention. Palantir Technologies (PLTR) is experiencing a minor premarket drop following its forthcoming induction into the Nasdaq 100 Index. However, its stock has seen a massive rally of nearly 350% year-to-date, driven by the increased demand for its AI solutions. Similarly, newly added Nasdaq 100 members MicroStrategy (MSTR) and Axon Enterprise (AXON) are benefitting, with share prices up by 3% and 1% respectively.

At the same time, Broadcom (AVGO) is celebrating its ascent as a trillion-dollar company, with shares climbing an additional 3% in premarket trading. The chipmaker's revenue from artificial intelligence has more than tripled, hitting $12.2 billion this fiscal year. It becomes the ninth company and the second semiconductor leader, alongside Nvidia (NVDA), to reach the $1 trillion milestone.

On the downside, Super Micro Computer (SMCI) has seen its shares nosedive by 15%, following announcements of its removal from the Nasdaq 100 and ongoing efforts to strengthen its financial footing. The company, which recently faced the threat of delisting, is turning to investment banker Evercore for help in raising capital via private-equity and debt strategies.
