Vizsla Silver Shares Surge on Significant Resource Boost

Shares of Vizsla Silver experienced a double-digit surge on Monday following the announcement of a substantial increase in mineral resources for its flagship Panuco project in Sinaloa, Mexico. According to Mining.com, the updated resource estimate marks a 43% increase in silver equivalent (AgEq) resources, now totaling 222.4 million ounces.

The 100%-owned Panuco project estimates now include 12.96 million tonnes in measured and indicated resources at an average grade of 307 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 2.49 g/t gold, 0.27% lead, and 0.85% zinc. Despite a slight decrease in inferred resources, with 138.7 million oz. of AgEq, a substantial portion has been upgraded to higher categories, emphasizing confidence in Panuco's mineralization potential.

This is the first time a measured resource has been calculated for Panuco, tallying 46 million oz. AgEq at an impressive average grade of 640 g/t AgEq. The Copala resource area is significantly contributing to this category, being a primary focus during the inaugural mining years.

The remarkable resource upgrade prompted Vizsla Silver's share prices to escalate by 12.0%, trading near a 52-week high of $2.76. The company's market capitalization surged to approximately $768 million.

The resource update follows the inclusion of 157 new infill and expansion drill holes, amounting to 69,754 meters, completed between September 2023 and September 2024. This comes just five years after the initial Napoleon discovery. Notably, the current resource estimate represents only about 10% of the known cumulative vein strike of 86 km at the vast 170 sq. km Panuco property.

Commenting on the development, Vizsla's CEO expressed satisfaction with the "excellent mineralized continuity" at Copala, highlighting how reducing drill hole spacing to 25 meters has led to a "significantly higher-grade profile" in the resource and PEA (Preliminary Economic Assessment) mine plan.

The PEA from last summer lays out a 10.6-year mine plan producing 15.2 million oz. AgEq annually, with an after-tax net present value of $1.1 billion, reflecting an 86% internal rate of return and a 9-month payback period.

Looking forward, Vizsla aims to commence production by 2027, employing a dual-track approach combining mine development and extensive district-scale exploration. Current initiatives encompass a fully funded and permitted test mine program, an ongoing feasibility study, and a 10,000-meter discovery-focused drill campaign. Expecting favorable exploration outcomes, Vizsla plans another resource estimate update by the second half of 2025.
