Which Country Eats the Most Honey in the World?

The global honey market earned total revenues of $X in 2016, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of +X% from 2007 to 2016. After a pronounced contraction in 2009, the global honey market embarked on a gradual upward trend through to 2013. In 2014, the market decreased again; it leveled out in the following year, and then recovered in 2016.

In physical terms, the volume of global honey consumption increased from X tons in 2007 to X tons in 2016, expanding moderately but steadily throughout the period under review..

Turkey (X kg/year in 2016) and Iran (X kg/year) recorded high levels of per capita consumption amongst the leading consuming countries, which was significantly higher than the world average of X kg/year. Iran, with a +X% per year, the U.S. (+X% per year) and Turkey (+X% per year) recorded the most notable annual rates of growth in terms of per capita consumption from 2007 to 2016.

In China, per capita honey consumption was estimated at X kg/year in 2016, which was almost equal to the global average of X kg/year. Despite the insignificant per capita consumption figures when compared with the other countries, China remains the world's leading honey consuming country in absolute volumes. This fact, therefore, would appear to indicate that China's honey market boasts a low degree of saturation.
