In 2016, China (X tons), distantly followed by Germany (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), and Qatar (X tons) were the key importers of iron bar, together generating X% of total imports. The Netherlands (X tons), the U.S. (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Spain (X tons), Japan (X tons), France (X tons), Russia (X tons), and the UK (X tons) followed a long way behind this figure.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. At the same time, Qatar (+X%), the Netherlands (+X%), France (+X%), and Turkey (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest growing importer/exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2016. Ukraine, Spain, the U.S., Germany, Russia, and the UK experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2016, the share of Qatar decreased by -X% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest iron bar markets worldwide were the U.S. ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined X% share of global imports.France, China, Turkey, Spain, the UK, Qatar, Japan, Ukraine and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Qatar (+X% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of iron bar imports, in terms of the main importing countries, over the last X years, while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Iron Bar Import Prices By Country

In 2016, the average import price for iron bar amounted to $X per ton, waning by -X% against the previous year. In general, iron bar import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when import price increased by X% y-o-y. Global iron bar import peaked of $X per ton in 2008- however, from 2009 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was the U.S. ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was among the lowest.
