World Governments Summit 2025 Begins in Dubai

The World Governments Summit 2025 commenced today in Dubai, marking the start of a significant event that will run until February 13.

Under the theme Shaping Future Governments, this summit promises to be a landmark in collaborative global policymaking, featuring discussions on pressing global trends in over 200 interactive sessions by more than 300 global speakers. With participation from over 30 heads of state and government, in addition to more than 80 international and regional organisations, the summit sees record international engagement this year. Around 140 government delegations have gathered to pursue strategic discussions aimed at shaping the governments of tomorrow.

Day Zero Highlights

The summit's Day Zero features key forums like the 9th Arab Fiscal Forum, the Arab Meeting for Young Leaders, and the Young Arab Leaders Forum. The 9th Arab Fiscal Forum, co-hosted by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the UAE Ministry of Finance, tackles fiscal challenges with sessions on subsidy reforms, tax administration, and fiscal policies to manage debt vulnerabilities efficiently.

Notable speakers such as Mohamed Al Hussaini, UAE's Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Kristalina Georgieva, MD of the IMF, and Dr Fahad Al Turki from the AMF are set to lead these crucial conversations.

The Arab Meeting for Young Leaders, another highlight on Day Zero, aims to involve Arab youth in decision-making processes. Hosted with the Arab Youth Centre, the meeting discusses initiatives like the Arab Youth Competitiveness Index and addresses pivotal themes such as The Vision of the League of Arab States and seizing opportunities in a changing energy landscape.

Young Arab Leaders Forum

This forum offers a dynamic platform to nurture the entrepreneurial and leadership skills of young Arab professionals. With a focus on mentorship and educational growth, the forum covers themes including the evolving economic state of the Arab world and the importance of youth leadership in key sectors like entrepreneurship, sports, and culture.
