xAI Unveils Upgraded Grok Model Amidst Legal Tensions with OpenAI

Despite facing legal challenges with OpenAI, Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, continues to innovate by rolling out an upgraded version of its flagship Grok 2 chatbot model. The announcement was made on Friday night, highlighting xAI's commitment to pushing forward even during litigation.

The enhanced Grok model, available on X (formerly Twitter), boasts improved performance, including being "three times faster" with "better accuracy, instruction-following, and multilingual capabilities," according to xAI. However, free users face a restriction of asking only ten questions every two hours, while Premium and Premium+ subscribers enjoy higher usage limits.

Notably, a new "Grok button" has been added to X, aimed at helping users uncover real-time context and delve deeper into trending discussions. Additionally, xAI is upgrading its enterprise API, introducing new Grok models with enhanced efficiency. These improvements result in a price reduction from $5 per million input tokens to $2, and from $15 per million output tokens to $10.
