Xiaomi Shares Reach Record High Amid Promising Product Launches

Xiaomi Corp. has achieved a remarkable milestone as its shares soared to a new record in Hong Kong this week. A significant uptick in stock value was driven by promising new product announcements and advantages gained from China's national subsidy program for consumers. In a recent report, it was highlighted that Xiaomi's stock climbed by 12% over the week, reinforcing optimism about the company's future sales trajectory.

According to Bloomberg, the introduction of a high-end SU7 Ultra vehicle alongside the 15 Ultra phone by the end of this month has fuelled investor enthusiasm further. HSBC Holdings Plc analyst Frank He has adjusted his expectations, increasing Xiaomi's smartphone shipment forecasts by 2% for 2025 and by 3% for 2026, citing the inclusion of wearables in the subsidy program as a driving factor for near-term growth.

Xiaomi's Market Performance

Meanwhile, the IndexBox platform provides insight into the broader market context in which Xiaomi operates. In 2023, China had a smartphone export value of USD 136.6 billion, with the United States, Hong Kong SAR, and the United Arab Emirates among the top export destinations, totaling USD 32.3 billion, USD 20.9 billion, and USD 18.4 billion respectively. In comparison, imports in the same year, led by the United Arab Emirates at USD 965.9 million, were notably lower.

Despite the slight decline in China's smartphone export value to USD 132.5 billion in 2024, Xiaomi's strategic positioning in the expanding electric vehicle (EV) market has contributed to its overall performance. The company's stock surged over 120% in 2024, surpassing competitors like BYD Co. and XPeng Inc. HSBC analysts predict further increases in delivery volumes as production capacity continues to grow.

Chinese tech stocks have been bolstered by investor optimism, particularly following the introduction of the AI model DeepSeek R-1, which is expected to reduce AI costs significantly. With Xiaomi's robust AIoT device platform, the outlook remains positive; HSBC analysts see ongoing growth opportunities in this area, promising sustained stock performance among China's Internet firms.
