U.S. Acrylonitrile Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the acrylonitrile price per ton amounted to $1.8K (FOB, US), with an increase of 4.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.8% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2.2K per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to August 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In August 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Mexico ($2.1K per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($1.9K per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($1.6K per ton) and South Korea ($1.6K per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
U.S. Acrylonitrile Exports
In August 2022, after two months of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of acrylonitrile, when their volume increased by 95% to 31K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt slump.
In value terms, acrylonitrile exports soared to $57M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn.
U.S. Acrylonitrile Exports by Country
Mexico (9.1K tons), Turkey (7K tons) and South Korea (6K tons) were the main destinations of acrylonitrile exports from the United States, with a combined 71% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Mexico (with a CAGR of +3.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Mexico ($19M), Turkey ($12M) and South Korea ($9.9M) were the largest markets for acrylonitrile exported from the United States worldwide, together comprising 71% of total exports.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +4.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
