China Aldehyde-Alcohols, Aldehyde-Ethers, Aldehyde-Phenols And Aldehydes With Other Oxygen Function Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the aldehyde-alcohols, aldehyde-ethers, aldehyde-phenols and aldehydes with other oxygen function price amounted to $19.1 per kg (FOB, China), dropping by -4.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.8% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $24.5 per kg in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($31.3 per kg), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($2,267 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, shipments abroad of aldehyde-alcohols, aldehyde-ethers, aldehyde-phenols and aldehydes with other oxygen function decreased by -5.3% to 1.5K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after two months of growth. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when exports increased by 28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at 2.4K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of aldehyde-alcohols, aldehyde-ethers, aldehyde-phenols and aldehydes with other oxygen function shrank to $29M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 36% m-o-m. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $57M. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

India (278 tons), South Korea (147 tons) and the United States (144 tons) were the main destinations of exports of aldehyde-alcohols, aldehyde-ethers, aldehyde-phenols and aldehydes with other oxygen function from China, with a combined 38% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Singapore, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, the Netherlands, Mexico, Spain and France, which together accounted for a further 49%.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +42.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for aldehyde-alcohols, aldehyde-ethers, aldehyde-phenols and aldehydes with other oxygen function exported from China were India ($4.6M), the United States ($4.5M) and Singapore ($2.5M), together comprising 40% of total exports. Germany, Japan, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, France and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

Russia, with a CAGR of +36.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
