U.S. Aluminum Insulated Wire Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the aluminum insulated wire price amounted to $4,941 per ton (CIF, US), remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a modest increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,801 per ton. From July 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($8,510 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($2,886 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Aluminum Insulated Wire Imports
In September 2022, supplies from abroad of aluminum insulated wire and cable increased by 20% to 14K tons, rising for the third month in a row after two months of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.6% against June 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 with an increase of 30% m-o-m. Imports peaked in September 2022.
In value terms, aluminum insulated wire imports surged to $70M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +6.3% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.3% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 26% against the previous month. Imports peaked in September 2022.
U.S. Aluminum Insulated Wire Imports by Country
India (4.5K tons), Mexico (3.5K tons) and Bahrain (1.9K tons) were the main suppliers of aluminum insulated wire imports to the United States, with a combined 69% share of total imports. Turkey, Brazil, Canada and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +106.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest aluminum insulated wire suppliers to the United States were India ($18M), Mexico ($17M) and Bahrain ($8.6M), with a combined 62% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Canada, Turkey, China and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 19%.
Brazil, with a CAGR of +74.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
