U.S. Amine-Function Compounds Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the amine-function compounds price per ton stood at $4.3K (CIF, US), increasing by 1.7% against the previous month. Over the last five-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 22% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4.5K per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to June 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7.0K per ton), while the price for Portugal ($2.4K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+13.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Amine-Function Compounds Import Prices by Type
Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives; 1-naphthylamine (alpha-naphthylamine), 2-naphthylamine (beta-naphthaylamine) and their derivatives; salts thereof ($11.6K per ton), while the price for aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) ($2.6K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by aniline (+7.0%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Amine-Function Compounds Imports
In August 2022, after three months of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of amine-function compounds, when their volume increased by 18% to 24K tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from January 2022 to August 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, imports increased by +18.1% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when imports increased by 71% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 34K tons. From May 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, amine-function compounds imports expanded notably to $105M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 with an increase of 32% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $120M. From May 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Amine-Function Compounds Imports by Type
Amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, toluidines and their derivatives; salts thereof (3.9K tons), aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) (3.8K tons) and acylic monoamines,their derivatives and salts thereof (excl. methylamine; di- or trimethylamine) (3.7K tons) were the main products of amine-function compounds imports to the United States, together comprising 47% of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the major product types, was attained by amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, toluidines and their derivatives; salts thereof (with a CAGR of +25.5%), while imports for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, amine-function compounds; aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, other than item no. 2921.51 ($17M), acylic monoamines,their derivatives and salts thereof (excl. methylamine; di- or trimethylamine) ($15M) and amine-function compounds; aromatic amines and their derivatives; o-, m-, p-phenylenediamine, diaminotoluenes and their derivatives; salts thereof ($13M) constituted the most imported types of amine-function compounds in the United States, together accounting for 43% of total imports. These products were followed by amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, toluidines and their derivatives; salts thereof, acyclic polyamines and their derivatives and salts thereof (excl. hexamethylenediamine and ethylenediamine), aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives), amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives; salts thereof; n.e.s. in item no. 2921.4, cyclanic, cyclenic or cycloterpenic mono- or polyamines, and their derivatives and salts thereof, amine-function compounds; acyclic polyamines and their derivatives, ethylenediamine and its salts, aniline derivatives and their salts, methylamine, di- or trimethylamine and their salts, amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, diphenylamine and its derivatives; salts thereof, amine-function compounds; aromatic monoamines and their derivatives; 1-naphthylamine (alpha-naphthylamine), 2-naphthylamine (beta-naphthaylamine) and their derivatives; salts thereof, amine-function compounds; acyclic polyamines and their derivatives, hexamethylenediamine and its salts and amine-function compounds; acyclic monoamines and their derivatives; diethylamine and its salts, which together accounted for a further 57%.
U.S. Amine-Function Compounds Imports by Country
In June 2022, China (7.4K tons) constituted the largest supplier of amine-function compounds to the United States, accounting for a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, amine-function compounds imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (2.8K tons), threefold. Belgium (2.4K tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (+8.4% per month) and Belgium (-8.4% per month).
In value terms, China ($31M) constituted the largest supplier of amine-function compounds to the United States, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($11M), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with an 11% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +3.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (+8.3% per month) and India (-2.3% per month).
