U.S. Amplifier Import Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the amplifier price amounted to $63 per unit (CIF, US), waning by -25.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 38% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $85 per unit in July 2022, and then shrank sharply in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($99 per unit), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($1.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Amplifier Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In August 2022, the product with the highest price was electric sound amplifier sets ($93 per unit), while the price for amplifiers; audio-frequency electric stood at $62 per unit.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by electric sound amplifier (+3.0%).
U.S. Amplifier Imports
In August 2022, supplies from abroad of amplifiers was finally on the rise to reach 1.6M units after two months of decline. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% over the period from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 1.7M units in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to August 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, amplifier imports stood at $104M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% from January 2022 to August 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 9.7% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $109M. From July 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Amplifier Imports by Type
In August 2022, amplifiers; audio-frequency electric (1.6M units) was the main type of amplifier supplied to the United States, accounting for a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, amplifiers; audio-frequency electric exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, electric sound amplifier sets (81K units), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of import of amplifiers; audio-frequency electric amounted to +3.1%.
In value terms, amplifiers; audio-frequency electric ($97M) constituted the largest type of amplifier supplied to the United States, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by electric sound amplifier sets ($7.5M), with a 7.2% share of total imports.
U.S. Amplifier Imports by Country
China (617K units), Mexico (429K units) and Hong Kong SAR (117K units) were the main suppliers of amplifier imports to the United States, with a combined 71% share of total imports. Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Portugal, South Korea and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +400.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest amplifier suppliers to the United States were Mexico ($41M), China ($22M) and Thailand ($7.5M), with a combined 68% share of total imports. Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Portugal and Hong Kong SAR lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.
In terms of the main suppliers, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +68.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
