China Apple Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the apple price amounted to $1,207 per ton (FOB, China), reducing by -6.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,397 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In September 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Singapore ($1,494 per ton) and Thailand ($1,428 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($1,020 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,080 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Apple Exports
In September 2022, shipments abroad of apples increased by 42% to 73K tons, rising for the third consecutive month after three months of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 97% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 84K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, apple exports skyrocketed to $88M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 89% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 103K tons in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
China Apple Exports by Country
Vietnam (19K tons), Indonesia (14K tons) and Thailand (11K tons) were the main destinations of apple exports from China, together comprising 61% of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (with a CAGR of +73.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the largest markets for apple exported from China were Vietnam ($23M), Thailand ($16M) and Indonesia ($15M), with a combined 61% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +71.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
