U.S. Aromatic Hydrocarbons Derivatives Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives price per ton amounted to $2.5K (CIF, US), with an increase of 19% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a noticeable increase from January 2022 to June 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last five-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2022 figures, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives import price increased by +19.5% against May 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3.2K per ton. From April 2022 to June 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($4.5K per ton), while the price for Germany ($1.2K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Aromatic Hydrocarbons Derivatives Imports
In June 2022, the amount of halogenated derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons imported into the United States fell to 9.2K tons, reducing by -13.8% compared with the previous month's figure. In general, total imports indicated a temperate expansion from January 2022 to June 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last five-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2022 figures, imports decreased by -18.0% against April 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when imports increased by 105% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 11K tons. From May 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports rose to $23M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +7.1% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 when imports increased by 39% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of $24M. From May 2022 to June 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Aromatic Hydrocarbons Derivatives Imports by Country
Germany (3.3K tons), China (3.1K tons) and India (2.2K tons) were the main suppliers of aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports to the United States, together accounting for 94% of total imports.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the biggest increases were in China (with a CAGR of +10.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($14M) constituted the largest supplier of aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives to the United States, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($4M), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 12% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +12.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.6% per month) and India (-1.6% per month).
