China Artificial And Prepared Waxes (Including Sealing Waxes) Import Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the artificial and prepared waxes (including sealing waxes) price stood at $3,135 per ton (CIF, China), shrinking by -6.4% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 an increase of 6.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3,351 per ton in August 2022, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,806 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($1,827 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2022, the amount of artificial and prepared waxes (including sealing waxes) (excluding of polyethylene glycol) imported into China expanded significantly to 13K tons, with an increase of 10% on the previous month. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 31% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 19K tons. From April 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of artificial and prepared waxes (including sealing waxes) (excluding of polyethylene glycol) reached $41M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 35% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 53K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

China Artificial And Prepared Waxes (Including Sealing Waxes) Imports by Country

Malaysia (3.1K tons), Indonesia (2.7K tons) and Thailand (1.6K tons) were the main suppliers of imports of artificial and prepared waxes (including sealing waxes) (excluding of polyethylene glycol) to China, with a combined 56% share of total imports.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (with a CAGR of +8.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($7.4M), Malaysia ($6.9M) and Indonesia ($6.9M) constituted the largest artificial and prepared waxes (including sealing waxes) suppliers to China, together accounting for 51% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +11.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
