U.S. Battered Fish Fillet Import Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the battered fish fillet price per ton amounted to $4.1K (CIF, US), reducing by -15.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 23% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5.0K per ton. From March 2022 to July 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($8.1K per ton), while the price for China ($2.4K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Battered Fish Fillet Imports
In July 2022, after two months of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs, when their volume decreased by -11% to 2.6K tons. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when imports increased by 48% month-to-month.
In value terms, battered fish fillet imports contracted dramatically to $11M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 37% month-to-month.
U.S. Battered Fish Fillet Imports by Country
Vietnam (692 tons), China (653 tons) and Canada (417 tons) were the main suppliers of battered fish fillet imports to the United States, together accounting for 67% of total imports. Thailand, the Philippines, Ecuador and Israel lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +8.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest battered fish fillet suppliers to the United States were Canada ($3.4M), Vietnam ($2M) and Thailand ($1.6M), together accounting for 64% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, the Philippines, Ecuador and Israel, which together accounted for a further 30%.
Among the main suppliers, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +9.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
