Beeswax Prices in the United States

U.S. Beeswax Import Price per Ton in August 2022

In August 2022, the beeswax price per ton amounted to $7.0K (CIF, US), reducing by -6.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 23% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $8.3K per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to August 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($333.8K per ton), while the price for Mali ($5.1K per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+61.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Beeswax Imports

In August 2022, purchases abroad of beeswax increased by 9.3% to 491 tons, rising for the third month in a row after two months of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from January 2022 to August 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +11.1% over the last seven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.5% against May 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when imports increased by 43% m-o-m. Imports peaked in August 2022.

In value terms, beeswax imports amounted to $3.5M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, imports recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 52% against the previous month. Imports peaked in August 2022.

U.S. Beeswax Imports by Country

In August 2022, China (271 tons) constituted the largest beeswax supplier to the United States, accounting for a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, beeswax imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (53 tons), fivefold. Argentina (36 tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +12.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+17.5% per month) and Argentina (+12.4% per month).

In value terms, China ($1.6M) constituted the largest supplier of beeswax to the United States, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($413K), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 10% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China totaled +10.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+18.2% per month) and Argentina (+16.1% per month).
