China Birds Egg Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the birds egg price stood at $1,940 per ton (FOB, China), waning by -1.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 2.2% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,082 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,686 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($1,878 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
China Birds Egg Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was eggs, excluding hen eggs ($2,769 per ton), while the average price for exports of chicken eggs totaled $1,824 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: chicken egg (-0.3%).
China Birds Egg Exports
Birds egg exports from China reduced to 11K tons in September 2022, dropping by -7.7% against August 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a noticeable increase from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports decreased by -11.1% against July 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 35% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 13K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, birds egg exports declined to $22M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% over the period from January 2022 to September 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 36% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 25K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
China Birds Egg Exports by Type
Chicken eggs (10K tons) was the largest type of birds egg exported from China, accounting for a 88% share of total exports. Moreover, chicken eggs exceeded the volume of the second product type, eggs, excluding hen eggs (1.4K tons), sevenfold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of chicken eggs stood at +4.8%.
In value terms, chicken eggs ($18M) remains the largest type of birds egg exported from China, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by eggs, excluding hen eggs ($3.9M), with a 17% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of chicken eggs amounted to +4.5%.
China Birds Egg Exports by Country
Hong Kong SAR (9.8K tons) was the main destination for birds egg exports from China, with a 85% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore (112 tons), with a 1% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Hong Kong SAR stood at +4.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Singapore (-2.5% per month) and the United States (-15.4% per month).
In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($18M) remains the key foreign market for birds egg exports from China, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($353K), with a 1.6% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR stood at +3.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Singapore (-2.6% per month) and the United States (-15.5% per month).
