China Broom, Brush, And Mop Export Price in August 2022

In August 2022, the broom, brush, and mop price stood at $427 per thousand units (FOB, China), rising by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average export price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $432 per thousand units in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to August 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($583 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($62.0 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Broom, Brush, And Mop Export Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was brooms and brushes of twigs ($1.3 per unit), while the average price for exports of tooth brushes ($146 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: mechanical hand floor sweeper (+2.3%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Broom, Brush, And Mop Exports

In August 2022, after five months of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of brooms, brushes, and mops, when their volume decreased by -9.9% to 1.4B units. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 32% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 1.7B units in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to August 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop exports shrank to $605M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, exports saw a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 51% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 652M units in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to August 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China Broom, Brush, And Mop Exports by Type

Tooth brushes (540M units) was the largest type of broom, brush, and mop exported from China, accounting for a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, tooth brushes exceeded the volume of the second product type, hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use (266M units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by non-motorised hand-operated mechanical floor sweepers (242M units), with a 17% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the volume of export of tooth brushes totaled -2.5%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use (+1.7% per month) and non-motorised hand-operated mechanical floor sweepers (-4.2% per month).

In value terms, non-motorised hand-operated mechanical floor sweepers ($248M), hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use ($170M) and tooth brushes ($79M) appeared to be the most exported types of brooms, brushes, and mops from China worldwide, together accounting for 82% of total exports. These products were followed by paint, distemper, varnish or similar brushes, paint pads and rollers, artists' brushes, writing brushes and cosmetical brushes, brushes constituting parts of appliances and brooms and brushes of twigs, which together accounted for a further 18%.

In terms of the main product categories, hair, shaving and toilet brush, with a CAGR of +3.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other products experienced a decline.

China Broom, Brush, And Mop Exports by Country

The United States (329M units) was the main destination for broom, brush, and mop exports from China, accounting for a 23% share of total exports. Moreover, broom, brush, and mop exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (88M units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (57M units), with a 4.1% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to the United States stood at -1.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Japan (-2.0% per month) and Russia (-0.5% per month).

In value terms, the United States ($127M) remains the key foreign market for broom, brush, and mop exports from China, comprising 21% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($28M), with a 4.6% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 3.7% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States totaled -1.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Japan (-0.0% per month) and the UK (-1.6% per month).
