China Butanone Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the butanone price stood at $1,444 per ton (FOB, China), declining by -2.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 17% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,787 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Vietnam ($1,561 per ton) and South Korea ($1,508 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,059 per ton) and Germany ($1,137 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Butanone Exports
Butanone exports from China surged to 33K tons in September 2022, rising by 55% against August 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw temperate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 323% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in September 2022.
In value terms, butanone exports skyrocketed to $48M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports enjoyed moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 340% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 56K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

India (13K tons), Indonesia (8.1K tons) and South Korea (4.6K tons) were the main destinations of butanone exports from China, with a combined 78% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (with a CAGR of +19.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($19M), Indonesia ($12M) and South Korea ($7M) were the largest markets for butanone exported from China worldwide, with a combined 79% share of total exports.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +23.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
