China Butter And Dairy Spreads Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the butter and dairy spreads price amounted to $7,013 per ton (CIF, China), growing by 3.3% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.3% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,053 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($9,203 per ton), while the price for Australia ($5,001 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was dairy spreads ($49.4 per kg), while the price for butter stood at $7,012 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by dairy spread (+6.2%).

In September 2022, butter and dairy spreads imports into China reduced to 6.2K tons, which is down by -13.3% against the previous month's figure. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 13K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, butter and dairy spreads imports shrank to $44M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when imports increased by 73% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 76K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, butter ($44M) constituted the largest type of butter and dairy spreads supplied to China, comprising 99.9% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by dairy spreads ($7.6K), with less than 0.1% share of total imports.

In September 2022, New Zealand (4.7K tons) constituted the largest butter and dairy spreads supplier to China, accounting for a 75% share of total imports. The third position in this ranking was held by Australia (340 tons), with a 5.4% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from New Zealand totaled -11.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: France (+8.7% per month) and Australia (+3.2% per month).
In value terms, New Zealand ($33M) constituted the largest supplier of butter and dairy spreads to China, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($4.6M), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Australia, with a 3.9% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from New Zealand stood at -9.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: France (+9.6% per month) and Australia (+3.0% per month).
