U.S. Buttermilk And Buttermilk Powder Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the buttermilk and buttermilk powder price per ton stood at $3.3K (FOB, US), which is down by -11.1% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 26% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3.7K per ton, and then declined in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($4.6K per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2.6K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+19.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Buttermilk And Buttermilk Powder Exports
In August 2022, shipments abroad of buttermilk and buttermilk powder decreased by -1.4% to 1.9K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after five months of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 119% m-o-m.
In value terms, buttermilk and buttermilk powder exports shrank to $6.2M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when exports increased by 144% against the previous month.

Mexico (864 tons), the Philippines (627 tons) and Canada (98 tons) were the main destinations of buttermilk and buttermilk powder exports from the United States, together accounting for 85% of total exports. Singapore and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.1%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Singapore (with a CAGR of +118.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($2.7M), the Philippines ($2.3M) and Singapore ($283K) appeared to be the largest markets for buttermilk and buttermilk powder exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 85% share of total exports.
