China Camel and Other Animal Meat Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the camel and other animal meat price stood at $6,596 per ton (CIF, China), waning by -13.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 70% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,457 per ton. From March 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for New Zealand.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for New Zealand amounted to +0.9% per month.
China Camel and Other Animal Meat Imports
After two months of growth, purchases abroad of meat of camels and other animals decreased by -50.3% to 177 tons in September 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 with an increase of 107% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 376 tons. From June 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports reduced markedly to $1.2M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 170% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $2.8M. From June 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
