U.S. Camel and Other Animal Meat Import Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the camel and other animal meat price per ton amounted to $5.6K (CIF, US), shrinking by -11.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 30% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7.4K per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to July 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Australia ($12.2K per ton), while the price for China ($2.4K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+34.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Camel and Other Animal Meat Imports
Camel and other animal meat imports into the United States dropped slightly to 714 tons in August 2022, waning by -1.9% compared with the month before. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when imports increased by 90% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 909 tons. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports expanded markedly to $4.3M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 66% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $5.9M. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Camel and Other Animal Meat Imports by Country
New Zealand (382 tons), China (245 tons) and Spain (53 tons) were the main suppliers of camel and other animal meat imports to the United States, with a combined 93% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the biggest increases were in Spain (with a CAGR of +8.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, New Zealand ($2.7M) constituted the largest supplier of camel and other animal meat to the United States, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($599K), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with an 8.7% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from New Zealand was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (+5.4% per month) and Spain (+6.7% per month).
