China Canned Pineapple Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the canned pineapple price stood at $1,183 per ton (CIF, China), stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 6.5% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,214 per ton in June 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,259 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,131 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
China Canned Pineapple Imports
After two months of growth, purchases abroad of canned pineapples decreased by -14.5% to 1.8K tons in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 307% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 3.9K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, canned pineapple imports reduced to $2.1M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, imports showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when imports increased by 299% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 4.6K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

the Philippines (641 tons), Indonesia (590 tons) and Thailand (523 tons) were the main suppliers of canned pineapple imports to China, with a combined 99.9% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +5.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the largest canned pineapple suppliers to China were Indonesia ($742K), the Philippines ($725K) and Thailand ($605K), with a combined 100% share of total imports.
