China Carbon Electrode Not For Furnaces Export Price in July 2022
In July 2022, the carbon electrode not for furnaces price stood at $1,336 per ton (FOB, China), picking up by 3.4% against the previous month. Over the last six-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when the average export price increased by 12% month-to-month. The export price peaked in July 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In July 2022, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($1,435 per ton) and Norway ($1,407 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,151 per ton) and Iceland ($1,224 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Carbon Electrode Not For Furnaces Exports
In July 2022, the amount of carbon electrodes not for furnaces exported from China surged to 213K tons, jumping by 39% on the previous month's figure. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% from January 2022 to July 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 220K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to July 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, carbon electrode not for furnaces exports skyrocketed to $284M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from January 2022 to July 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +8.8% over the last six months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.5% against June 2022 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
China Carbon Electrode Not For Furnaces Exports by Country
Malaysia (63K tons), Norway (44K tons) and Canada (38K tons) were the main destinations of carbon electrode not for furnaces exports from China, together comprising 68% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates and Iceland, which together accounted for a further 14%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the biggest increases were in Iceland (with a CAGR of +10.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($73M), Norway ($62M) and Canada ($53M) were the largest markets for carbon electrode not for furnaces exported from China worldwide, together comprising 66% of total exports.
Norway, with a CAGR of +16.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
