U.S. Carrot And Turnip Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the carrot and turnip price per ton amounted to $606.8 (CIF, US), with an increase of 16% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($2.9K per ton), while the price for Mexico ($477.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Carrot And Turnip Imports
In August 2022, purchases abroad of carrots and turnips increased by 17% to 22K tons for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 39% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 27K tons. From April 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, carrot and turnip imports skyrocketed to $13M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
U.S. Carrot And Turnip Imports by Country
Mexico (11K tons), Canada (8.6K tons) and Israel (2.4K tons) were the main suppliers of carrot and turnip imports to the United States, together comprising 98% of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +62.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest carrot and turnip suppliers to the United States were Canada ($6M), Mexico ($5M) and Israel ($1.3M), with a combined 92% share of total imports.
Israel, with a CAGR of +60.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
