China Cellulose And Its Chemical Derivatives In Primary Forms Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the cellulose and its chemical derivatives in primary forms price stood at $3,776 per ton (FOB, China), reducing by -4.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.1% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,126 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($4,489 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($2,552 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In September 2022, the amount of cellulose and its chemical derivatives in primary forms exported from China reduced slightly to 26K tons, with a decrease of -4.3% on the previous month. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 35% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 30K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of cellulose and its chemical derivatives in primary forms declined to $97M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 33% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at 120K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
China Cellulose And Its Chemical Derivatives In Primary Forms Exports by Country
Russia (3.7K tons), India (3.1K tons) and the United States (1.5K tons) were the main destinations of exports of cellulose and its chemical derivatives in primary forms from China, together comprising 32% of total exports. These countries were followed by Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Japan, Turkey, Canada and South Korea, which together accounted for a further 32%.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Canada (with a CAGR of +8.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($15M), India ($14M) and Brazil ($5.6M) were the largest markets for cellulose and its chemical derivatives in primary forms exported from China worldwide, together accounting for 36% of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, South Korea and Canada, which together accounted for a further 29%.
The United States, with a CAGR of +8.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
