China Ceramic Household Article Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the ceramic household article price stood at $4,487 per ton (FOB, China), picking up by 12% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($8,703 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($2,771 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Ceramic Household Article Export Prices by Type
Average prices varied noticeably for the major types of exported product. In September 2022, the product with the highest price was tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles; of porcelain or china ($4,536 per ton), while the average price for exports of common pottery stood at $3,891 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: common pottery (+3.0%).
China Ceramic Household Article Exports
In September 2022, overseas shipments of ceramic household articles and toilet articles decreased by -4.7% to 187K tons, falling for the second consecutive month after four months of growth. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 26% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 220K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, ceramic household article exports stood at $837M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 33% month-to-month. The exports peaked in September 2022.
China Ceramic Household Article Exports by Type
Tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles; of porcelain or china (172K tons) was the largest type of ceramic household article exported from China, with a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles; of porcelain or china exceeded the volume of the second product type, common pottery (14K tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles; of porcelain or china stood at -1.8%.
In value terms, tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles; of porcelain or china ($782M) remains the largest type of ceramic household article exported from China, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by common pottery ($55M), with a 6.5% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of the export volume of tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles; of porcelain or china was relatively modest.
China Ceramic Household Article Exports by Country
The United States (35K tons) was the main destination for ceramic household article exports from China, accounting for a 19% share of total exports. Moreover, ceramic household article exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Vietnam (7.7K tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (6.8K tons), with a 3.7% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States amounted to -3.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+8.2% per month) and Germany (-1.6% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($160M) remains the key foreign market for ceramic household article exports from China, comprising 19% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($67M), with an 8% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 3.5% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+12.2% per month) and Malaysia (+3.2% per month).
