U.S. Chemical Contraceptive Preparations Import Price per Ton in May 2022
In May 2022, the chemical contraceptive preparations price per ton stood at $349.3K (CIF, US), which is down by -43.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 103% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $617.0K per ton, and then shrank markedly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2022, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($5.7M per ton), while the price for Germany ($39.8K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to May 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Chemical Contraceptive Preparations Imports
In June 2022, supplies from abroad of chemical contraceptive preparations based on hormones or spermicides increased by 21% to 285 tons, rising for the third consecutive month after two months of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible downturn.
In value terms, chemical contraceptive preparations imports surged to $113M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 when imports increased by 108% month-to-month.
U.S. Chemical Contraceptive Preparations Imports by Country
In May 2022, India (114 tons) constituted the largest supplier of chemical contraceptive preparations to the United States, accounting for a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, chemical contraceptive preparations imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (39 tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (29 tons), with a 13% share.
From January 2022 to May 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from India amounted to -3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Spain (-14.5% per month) and China (-16.6% per month).
In value terms, Finland ($33M), the Netherlands ($30M) and India ($6.7M) were the largest chemical contraceptive preparations suppliers to the United States, together comprising 86% of total imports. China, Italy, Spain, Israel and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 13%.
Israel, with a CAGR of +3.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
