U.S. Cherry and Sour Cherry Export Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the cherry and sour cherry price per ton stood at $7.6K (FOB, US), shrinking by -27.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from January 2022 to July 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last six months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2022 figures, cherry and sour cherry export price decreased by -27.4% against June 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 34% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $10.4K per ton in June 2022, and then dropped dramatically in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($11.1K per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($4.3K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+18.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Cherry and Sour Cherry Exports
Cherry and sour cherry exports from the United States declined significantly to 4.7K tons in August 2022, which is down by -77.7% on July 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 5,710% m-o-m.
In value terms, cherry and sour cherry exports contracted dramatically to $33M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. U.S. Cherry and Sour Cherry Exports by Country
Canada (9.5K tons) was the main destination for cherry and sour cherry exports from the United States, with a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, cherry and sour cherry exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Taiwan (Chinese) (3.2K tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by China (2.8K tons), with a 14% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada amounted to +102.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+342.7% per month) and China (+80.0% per month).
In value terms, Canada ($60M) remains the key foreign market for cherry and sour cherry exports from the United States, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($27M), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 16% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to Canada stood at +98.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+348.0% per month) and China (+100.0% per month).
