U.S. Common Pottery Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the common pottery price stood at $17.7 per kg (CIF, US), which is down by -3.3% against the previous month. Over the last eight-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 21% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $18.3 per kg in August 2022, and then declined slightly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($27.0 per kg), while the price for China amounted to $16.1 per kg.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.3%).
U.S. Common Pottery Imports
In September 2022, approximately 7.1K tons of common pottery were imported into the United States; which is down by -13.3% compared with August 2022. In general, imports recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 with an increase of 43% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 8.2K tons in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, common pottery imports contracted remarkably to $125M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when imports increased by 37% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 149K tons in August 2022, and then shrank significantly in the following month.

In September 2022, China (6.6K tons) was the main common pottery supplier to the United States, with a 94% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand (143 tons), with a 2% share of total imports.

In value terms, China ($107M) constituted the largest supplier of common pottery to the United States, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($3.9M), with a 3.1% share of total imports.
