U.S. Cream Fresh Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the cream fresh price stood at $1,371 per ton (CIF, US), declining by -42.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 53% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,387 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($2,436 per ton), while the price for Italy ($370 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
U.S. Cream Fresh Imports
In September 2022, overseas purchases of cream fresh were finally on the rise to reach 3.7K tons for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a three-month declining trend. Overall, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 3.8K tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cream fresh imports skyrocketed to $5.1M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 78% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in September 2022.
U.S. Cream Fresh Imports by Country
Mexico (1.5K tons), France (1.3K tons) and Bahrain (535 tons) were the main suppliers of cream fresh imports to the United States, with a combined 88% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +189.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($3.6M) constituted the largest supplier of cream fresh to the United States, comprising 71% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($640K), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 3.9% share.
