U.S. Crude Palm Oil Import Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the crude palm oil price per ton amounted to $1.2K (CIF, US), declining by -24.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 37% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2.7K per ton. From July 2022 to August 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Ghana ($2.2K per ton), while the price for Colombia ($1.1K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Crude Palm Oil Imports
In August 2022, crude palm oil imports into the United States soared to 12K tons, rising by 99% against the previous month. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 with an increase of 35,553% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in August 2022.
In value terms, crude palm oil imports skyrocketed to $14M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. In general, imports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 when imports increased by 20,893% month-to-month. Imports peaked in August 2022.
U.S. Crude Palm Oil Imports by Country
In August 2022, Ecuador (9K tons) constituted the largest supplier of crude palm oil to the United States, with a 74% share of total imports. Moreover, crude palm oil imports from Ecuador exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Colombia (3K tons), threefold.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Ecuador stood at +142.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Colombia (+8,899.0% per month) and Ghana (+2.9% per month).
In value terms, Ecuador ($11M) constituted the largest supplier of crude palm oil to the United States, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($3.3M), with a 23% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Ecuador amounted to +111.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Colombia (+3,295.3% per month) and Ghana (+2.9% per month).
