China Diols And Polyhydric Alcohols Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the diols and polyhydric alcohols price stood at $2,596 per ton (FOB, China), approximately equating the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 0.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,128 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was India ($3,903 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($1,961 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In September 2022, exports of diols and polyhydric alcohols (excluding ethylene glycol and propylene glycol, d-glucitol) from China dropped sharply to 22K tons, reducing by -20.4% on the previous month's figure. In general, exports recorded a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 36% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 32K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, diols and polyhydric alcohols exports shrank rapidly to $58M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when exports increased by 34% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 100K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Italy (2.9K tons), South Korea (2.2K tons) and India (2.2K tons) were the main destinations of diols and polyhydric alcohols exports from China, together comprising 33% of total exports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($8.6M), South Korea ($6.4M) and Italy ($5.7M) appeared to be the largest markets for diols and polyhydric alcohols exported from China worldwide, together accounting for 36% of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +11.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
