U.S. Dried Mushroom Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the dried mushroom price per ton amounted to $7.2K (CIF, US), reducing by -40.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 57% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12.2K per ton, and then fell remarkably in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($57.9K per ton), while the price for China ($5.9K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+19.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
U.S. Dried Mushroom Import Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplied products. In June 2022, the product with the highest price was vegetables; mushrooms, other than the genus agaricus and truffles, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried ($7.7K per ton), while the price for vegetables; wood ears (auricularia spp), whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried ($4.3K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by vegetables; mushrooms, other than the genus agaricus and truffles, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried (-2.7%), while the prices for the other products experienced a decline.
U.S. Dried Mushroom Imports
In June 2022, after four months of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of dried mushrooms and truffles, when their volume increased by 50% to 335 tons. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable descent.
In value terms, dried mushroom imports fell to $2.4M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 28% against the previous month.
U.S. Dried Mushroom Imports by Type
In June 2022, vegetables; mushrooms, other than the genus agaricus and truffles, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried (225 tons) constituted the largest type of dried mushroom supplied to the United States, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, vegetables; mushrooms, other than the genus agaricus and truffles, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, vegetables; mushrooms of the genus agaricus, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried (86 tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by vegetables; wood ears (auricularia spp), whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried (20 tons), with a 6% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of vegetables; mushrooms, other than the genus agaricus and truffles, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried amounted to -3.0%. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: vegetables; mushrooms of the genus agaricus, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried (-8.0% per month) and vegetables; wood ears (auricularia spp), whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried (-1.6% per month).
In value terms, vegetables; mushrooms, other than the genus agaricus and truffles, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried ($1.7M) constituted the largest type of dried mushroom supplied to the United States, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by vegetables; mushrooms of the genus agaricus, whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried ($579K), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by vegetables; wood ears (auricularia spp), whole, cut, sliced, broken or in powder but not further prepared, dried, with a 3.6% share.
U.S. Dried Mushroom Imports by Country
In June 2022, China (300 tons) constituted the largest supplier of dried mushroom to the United States, with a 90% share of total imports. Moreover, dried mushroom imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (14 tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -3.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (-5.1% per month) and France (-38.9% per month).
In value terms, China ($1.8M) constituted the largest supplier of dried mushroom to the United States, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($171K), with a 7.1% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China totaled -3.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (-17.0% per month) and France (-26.8% per month).
