Dried Vegetables Prices in the United States

U.S. Dried Vegetables Import Price per Ton in August 2022

In August 2022, the dried vegetables price per ton stood at $4.0K (CIF, US), approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to August 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4.2K per ton. From June 2022 to August 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2022, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($14.3K per ton), while the price for Honduras ($1.1K per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Dried Vegetables Imports

For the third consecutive month, the United States recorded decline in overseas purchases of dried vegetables and mixtures of vegetables, which decreased by -27.7% to 3.5K tons in August 2022. In general, imports showed a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 23% m-o-m.

In value terms, dried vegetables imports fell markedly to $14M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when imports increased by 27% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of $26M. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

U.S. Dried Vegetables Imports by Country

In August 2022, China (1.6K tons) constituted the largest supplier of dried vegetables to the United States, accounting for a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, dried vegetables imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (227 tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Honduras (220 tons), with a 6.3% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at -7.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Poland (-5.4% per month) and Honduras (+2.9% per month).

In value terms, China ($5.6M) constituted the largest supplier of dried vegetables to the United States, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($1.1M), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 5.5% share.

From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China stood at -3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.5% per month) and Poland (-6.3% per month).
