U.S. Dry Vegetable Import Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the dry vegetable price per ton amounted to $3.7K (CIF, US), reducing by -8.3% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to June 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 an increase of 11% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4.0K per ton, and then declined in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($38.4K per ton), while the price for India ($4.3K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Dry Vegetable Imports
In June 2022, the amount of dry vegetables imported into the United States fell to 6.2K tons, waning by -14.9% on the month before. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when imports increased by 18% m-o-m.
In value terms, dry vegetable imports reduced rapidly to $23M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% from January 2022 to June 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 29% m-o-m.
U.S. Dry Vegetable Imports by Country
China (378 tons), India (296 tons) and Egypt (243 tons) were the main suppliers of dry vegetable imports to the United States, together comprising 15% of total imports.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($10M) constituted the largest supplier of dry vegetable to the United States, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Egypt ($2.3M), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 5.6% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +2.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Egypt (+17.0% per month) and India (+18.8% per month).
