U.S. Duck and Goose Meat Export Price per Ton in August 2022
In August 2022, the duck and goose meat price per ton stood at $4.3K (FOB, US), shrinking by -21.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a buoyant increase from January 2022 to August 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.8% over the last seven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2022 figures, duck and goose meat export price decreased by -21.5% against July 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 an increase of 68% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $5.4K per ton in July 2022, and then contracted notably in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($6.3K per ton), while the average price for exports to Saint Lucia ($1.8K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+25.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Duck and Goose Meat Export Prices by Type
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In August 2022, the product with the highest price was frozen domestic geese, not cut in pieces ($12.0K per ton), while the average price for exports of fresh or chilled cuts and edible offal of domestic geese (excluding fatty livers) ($2.0K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: fresh or chilled cuts and edible offal of domestic ducks (excluding fatty livers) (+60.8%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Duck and Goose Meat Exports
In August 2022, shipments abroad of duck and goose meat increased by 84% to 360 tons for the first time since May 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when exports increased by 344% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.3K tons. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, duck and goose meat exports skyrocketed to $1.5M (IndexBox estimates) in August 2022. Overall, exports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 226% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $3.6M. From June 2022 to August 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Duck and Goose Meat Exports by Type
Frozen cuts and edible offal of domestic ducks (143 tons), frozen domestic ducks, not cut in pieces (129 tons) and meat and edible offal of domestic guinea fowls, fresh, chilled or frozen (51 tons) were the main products of duck and goose meat exports from the United States, together comprising 90% of total exports. Fresh or chilled domestic ducks, not cut in pieces, frozen domestic geese, not cut in pieces, fresh or chilled cuts and edible offal of domestic geese (excluding fatty livers) and fresh or chilled cuts and edible offal of domestic ducks (excluding fatty livers) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in fresh or chilled cuts and edible offal of domestic geese (excluding fatty livers) (with a CAGR of +80.3%), while shipments for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, frozen domestic ducks, not cut in pieces ($813K) remains the largest type of duck and goose meat exported from the United States, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by frozen cuts and edible offal of domestic ducks ($362K), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by fresh or chilled domestic ducks, not cut in pieces, with a 9.6% share.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the export volume of frozen domestic ducks, not cut in pieces totaled +14.8%. With regard to the other exported products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: frozen cuts and edible offal of domestic ducks (+16.5% per month) and fresh or chilled domestic ducks, not cut in pieces (-0.1% per month).
U.S. Duck and Goose Meat Exports by Country
Mexico (98 tons), Jamaica (91 tons) and Canada (87 tons) were the main destinations of duck and goose meat exports from the United States, with a combined 77% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Chile, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and Saint Lucia, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +503.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($537K), Canada ($487K) and Jamaica ($159K) appeared to be the largest markets for duck and goose meat exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 77% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, Chile, the Netherlands and Saint Lucia, which together accounted for a further 17%.
Among the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +239.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
