China Egg, Excluding Hen Egg Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the egg, excluding hen egg price amounted to $2,769 per ton (FOB, China), growing by 2.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 2.2% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,080 per ton. From March 2022 to September 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Australia ($4,098 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($2,381 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

China Egg, Excluding Hen Egg Exports

In September 2022, exports of eggs, excluding hen eggs from China reduced remarkably to 1.4K tons, with a decrease of -44.1% compared with the previous month's figure. Over the period under review, exports saw a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 67% against the previous month. The exports peaked at 3K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, egg, excluding hen egg exports declined dramatically to $3.9M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 64% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 8.5K tons in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China Egg, Excluding Hen Egg Exports by Country

Hong Kong SAR (766 tons) was the main destination for egg, excluding hen egg exports from China, accounting for a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, egg, excluding hen egg exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Singapore (112 tons), sevenfold. Malaysia (100 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.2% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to Hong Kong SAR was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Singapore (-2.5% per month) and Malaysia (+9.7% per month).

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($1.8M) remains the key foreign market for egg, excluding hen egg exports from China, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($352K), with a 9.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 7.1% share.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to -1.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Singapore (-2.6% per month) and Canada (+5.7% per month).
