U.S. Ether Export Price per Ton in June 2022
In June 2022, the ether price per ton amounted to $1.7K (FOB, US), rising by 11% against the previous month. Over the last five-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +6.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1.9K per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($760.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Ether Exports
In June 2022, approximately 219K tons of ethers were exported from the United States; which is down by -14.8% on May 2022. Overall, exports recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 15% month-to-month. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 295K tons. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, ether exports fell to $376M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the period from January 2022 to June 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 when exports increased by 24% month-to-month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $400M. From April 2022 to June 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Ether Exports by Country
Japan (81K tons), Mexico (74K tons) and Chile (19K tons) were the main destinations of ether exports from the United States, with a combined 79% share of total exports. Belgium, Spain, Taiwan (Chinese) and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (with a CAGR of +25.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for ether exported from the United States were Japan ($131M), Mexico ($120M) and Chile ($32M), with a combined 75% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Taiwan (Chinese), South Korea and Spain, which together accounted for a further 11%.
Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +16.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
