China Feldspar Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the feldspar price stood at $371 per ton (CIF, China), picking up by 35% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $431 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Zimbabwe ($691 per ton), while the price for India ($162 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Feldspar Imports
In September 2022, supplies from abroad of feldspar decreased by -43.8% to 2.7K tons, falling for the third consecutive month after two months of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when imports increased by 33% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 8.2K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, feldspar imports dropped notably to $997K (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 with an increase of 71% m-o-m. Imports peaked at 2.7K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
China Feldspar Imports by Country
Zimbabwe (915 tons), Turkey (904 tons) and India (803 tons) were the main suppliers of feldspar imports to China, with a combined 97% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in Turkey (with a CAGR of -5.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Zimbabwe ($633K) constituted the largest supplier of feldspar to China, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($167K), with a 17% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Zimbabwe totaled -11.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Turkey (-3.9% per month) and India (-7.1% per month).
