China Festive Articles Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the festive articles price stood at $11.5 per kg (FOB, China), falling by -3.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2022 when the average export price increased by 42% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $16.7 per kg in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($27.0 per kg), while the average price for exports to Chile ($5,937 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Festive Articles Exports
After two months of decline, shipments abroad of festive or carnival articles increased by 9.1% to 26K tons in September 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 80% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 47K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, festive articles exports rose modestly to $297M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 with an increase of 156% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 778K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
China Festive Articles Exports by Country
The United States (11K tons) was the main destination for festive articles exports from China, accounting for a 42% share of total exports. Moreover, festive articles exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (1.1K tons), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (787 tons), with a 3% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume to the United States totaled +1.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: India (-7.6% per month) and the Netherlands (-3.1% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($148M) remains the key foreign market for festive articles exports from China, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($16M), with a 5.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Australia, with a 3.3% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +8.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: South Korea (+15.3% per month) and Australia (+5.8% per month).
