China Fish Parts Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the fish parts price stood at $10.2 per kg (CIF, China), increasing by 30% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 154% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $15.3 per kg in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($30.1 per kg), while the price for Norway ($1,843 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
China Fish Parts Imports
In September 2022, the amount of fish heads, tails and maws imported into China skyrocketed to 967 tons, picking up by 17% compared with August 2022. Overall, imports showed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when imports increased by 56% month-to-month. Imports peaked in September 2022.
In value terms, fish parts imports soared to $9.9M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when imports increased by 176% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in September 2022.
China Fish Parts Imports by Country
Norway (539 tons), Vietnam (383 tons) and Singapore (29 tons) were the main suppliers of fish parts imports to China, with a combined 98% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Norway (with a CAGR of +20.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Vietnam ($6.3M) constituted the largest supplier of fish parts to China, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($993K), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with an 8.7% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Vietnam stood at +1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Norway (+17.9% per month) and Singapore (+1.9% per month).
