U.S. Fixed Carbon Resistor Import Price in July 2022
In July 2022, the average fixed carbon resistor price amounted to $0.1 per unit, declining by -18.9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated modest growth from January 2022 to July 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last six months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2022 figures, fixed carbon resistor import price decreased by -31.0% against May 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 65% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $173.6 per thousand units. From June 2022 to July 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($1 per unit), while the price for Japan (less than $0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
U.S. Fixed Carbon Resistor Imports
In July 2022, approximately 469M units of fixed carbon resistors, composition or film types and electrical variable resistors were imported into the United States; with an increase of 29% compared with June 2022 figures. The total import volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% over the period from January 2022 to July 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fixed carbon resistor imports totaled $56M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. The total import value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% from January 2022 to July 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 29% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $58M. From April 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Fixed Carbon Resistor Imports by Country
Japan (212M units), China (133M units) and Taiwan (Chinese) (63M units) were the main suppliers of fixed carbon resistor imports to the United States, together comprising 87% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, Costa Rica and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 8.8%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +11.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($10M), Mexico ($7.7M) and Japan ($5.3M) constituted the largest fixed carbon resistor suppliers to the United States, with a combined 42% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Costa Rica and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 14%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Costa Rica, with a CAGR of +9.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
