China Fresh Beef Carcase Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the fresh beef carcase price amounted to $23.6 per kg (CIF, China), with an increase of 6.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $27,422 per ton. From June 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($27.8 per kg), while the price for New Zealand ($11.9 per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
China Fresh Beef Carcase Imports
Fresh beef carcase imports into China soared to 60 tons in September 2022, increasing by 23% compared with the previous month's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 when imports increased by 74% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 72 tons in January 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.
In value terms, fresh beef carcase imports surged to $1.4M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 with an increase of 77% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 1.9K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

the United States (31 tons), Australia (27 tons) and New Zealand (2.2 tons) were the main suppliers of fresh beef carcase imports to China.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the biggest increases were in the United States (with a CAGR of +0.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the United States ($855K), Australia ($531K) and New Zealand ($26K) appeared to be the largest fresh beef carcase suppliers to China.
Among the main suppliers, the United States, with a CAGR of -3.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
