China Frozen Cuttlefishes Import Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the frozen cuttlefishes price stood at $3,088 per ton (CIF, China), approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,277 per ton. From August 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($3,107 per ton), while the price for Thailand totaled $2,457 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+2.4%).
China Frozen Cuttlefishes Imports
In September 2022, purchases abroad of frozen cuttlefishes was finally on the rise to reach 1.7K tons after two months of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when imports increased by 36% month-to-month. Imports peaked at 2.4K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, frozen cuttlefishes imports expanded sharply to $5.4M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 49% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $6.7M. From July 2022 to September 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
China Frozen Cuttlefishes Imports by Country
In September 2022, Vietnam (1.7K tons) was the main frozen cuttlefishes supplier to China, with a 97% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand (51 tons), with a 2.9% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Vietnam totaled -3.8%.
In value terms, Vietnam ($5.2M) constituted the largest supplier of frozen cuttlefishes to China, comprising 98% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($125K), with a 2.3% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Vietnam stood at -1.5%.
